Common Advice:

1. Examinations and certification:
Conducting the examinations and awarding the certificates of first year and second year are processed by the relevant technical colleges and the final examination and certificate awarding processes are done by the Department of Technical Education and Training.
Before 1996 NCT final certificates were awarded by the commissioner of examinations under the Department of Examinations – Sri Lanka.
Students can take a temporary certificate with the subjects from the relevant technical colleges awaiting the original certificate.

2. Other Equivalent Qualifications:
NCT (Civil Engineering/Electrical & Electronic Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/ Quantity Surveying) with 5 years relevant field experiences are equal to National Diploma in Technology (NDT) or Higher National Diploma in Engineering (HNDE)

3. Career Prospects:
On successful completion of the course, the students will be able to get promotions in their carrier and also to find employment in government organizations, local and foreign industries as Technical Officers and Assistant Engineers.

In the 2nd year and 3rd year, students study the management subjects. After completion the training program, they can understand practical operations of the industry management systems. Therefore after contemplating their knoeledge, skill, ability to work and past experiences, can be considered to promote them as supervisory or management levels.

4. Special advantages:
This progrmme is restricted to those who are employed in relevant engineering fields. Therefore when students enter to NCT program, they have good command of the industry. After finishing the training program, they have good knowledge and hand experience of the field.

5. Future Educational Opportunities:
This is an entry qualification for following IESL engineering programme.
